My question is: Is what is happening not the wrath of God???
¹ Weight of Babylon, which Isaiah son of Amoz saw.
² Raise a banner on the high mountain, raise your voice to them; wave your hand at them, so that they may enter through the gates of the nobles.
³ I gave orders to my sanctified ones; yes, I have called my mighty ones to execute my wrath, those who exult in my majesty.
⁴ The shouting of the crowd can be heard on the mountains, like the shouting of many people; the sound of the hubbub of kingdoms and nations gathered together. The Lord of Hosts reviews the army of war.
⁵ The Lord and the instruments of his wrath are coming from a remote land, from the end of the sky, to destroy the whole land.
⁶ Cry therefore, the day of the Lord is at hand; comes from the Almighty as desolation.
⁷ Therefore every hand will grow weak, and every man's heart will faint.
⁸ And they will be astonished, and pains and woes will come upon them, and they will be in distress, like a woman in labor pains; each one will be amazed at his neighbor; his faces will be flaming faces.
⁹ Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, dreadful, with wrath and burning wrath, to make the earth a desolation, and to destroy the sinners thereof.
¹⁰ For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sun will be darkened when it rises, and the moon will not shine with its light.
¹¹ And I will visit the wickedness upon the world, and upon the wicked their iniquity; and I will put an end to the arrogance of the bold, and I will bring down the pride of the tyrants.
¹² I will make man more precious than pure gold, and rarer than the fine gold of Ophir.
¹³ Therefore I will shake the heavens; and the earth will move from its place because of the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and because of the day of his fiery wrath.
¹⁴ And each one will be like a deer that flees, and like a sheep that no one gathers; each one will return to his people, and each one will flee to his own land.
¹⁵ Everything found will be pierced; and everyone who joins him will fall by the sword.
¹⁶ And his children will be torn to pieces before his eyes; their houses will be plundered, and their women raped.
¹⁷ Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, who will not care for silver, nor will they desire gold.
¹⁸ And their bows will tear the young men to pieces, and they will not have mercy on the fruit of the womb; their eyes will not spare their children.
¹⁹ And Babylon, the ornament of kingdoms, the glory and pride of the Chaldeans, will be like Sodom and Gomorrah, when God overthrew them.
²⁰ It will never be inhabited again, nor will anyone live in it from generation to generation; Neither shall the Arab pitch his tent there, nor shall the shepherds make their flocks lie down there.
²¹ But the wild beasts of the desert will rest there, and their houses will be filled with horrible animals; and the ostriches will dwell there, and the satyrs will leap there.
²² And the wild animals of the islands will howl in their empty houses, as well as the jackals in their pleasure palaces; for his time is drawing near, and his days will not be prolonged.
