The heart is wicked, because there is no sin, whether by word or deed, that is not first in the heart.

All things come from within a man, and are the fruit of the wickedness that is in the heart and that works there.

When Christ teaches, He shows men the deceitfulness and wickedness of their hearts; He teaches them to humble themselves and to seek to be cleansed from their sins and filthiness at the open spring. (Christ the living water that flows from the rock)

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?
