POST PHRASE: "BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOUR EYES SEE AND WHAT YOUR HEART DESIRES. THIS CHRONIC DISSATISFACTION CAN BE A BOTTOMLESS PIT, AN ABYSS AS DEEP AS HELL"
Hell and the Pit are never satisfied, and the eyes of man are never satisfied (Proverbs 27:20).
Hell and the Pit are a kind of black hole, a bottomless pit. They are never satisfied. They never stop greedily wanting to swallow more and more. They are insatiable. That is how human eyes are; they are never satisfied. A person sees and covets, and in this covetousness there is no limit.
Because Eve saw the forbidden fruit, she desired it, took it, ate it and gave it to her husband. Because Achan saw a gold bar, hid it, and this stolen object was the ruin of his house. Because David saw Bathsheba bathing, he coveted her, committed adultery with her and ruined his own family. The lust of the eyes is a strong desire. And this strong desire becomes an overwhelming passion. It was dissatisfaction that made Eve feel unhappy in a garden surrounded by delights. It was dissatisfaction that led the prodigal son to ask his father for his inheritance in advance and to leave for a distant country. Chronic dissatisfaction with what one has and ardent greed for what one does not have are the causes of many disasters.
Be careful what your eyes see and what your heart desires. This chronic dissatisfaction can be a bottomless pit, an abyss as deep as hell.
