“The Lord spoke to me again. He said: — Mortal man, sing a song of sadness because of the end that the king of Tire will meet. Tell him that I, the Lord God, say this: “You were an example of perfection. How wise and friendly he was!

You lived in Eden, the garden of God, and wore precious stones of all kinds: rubies and diamonds; topaz, beryl, onyx and jasper; sapphires, emeralds and garnets. You had gold jewelry that was made for you the day you were created. I made you a protective angel, with wings spread. You lived on my holy mountain and walked among shining stones. Your conduct was perfect from the day you were created, until you began to do evil. You got busy buying and selling, and this led you to violence and sin. Therefore, protective angel, I humiliated him and expelled him from the mountain of God, from among the shining stones. You became proud because of your beauty, and your fame made you lose your mind. So I threw him down to serve as a warning to other kings. You were so dishonest in your purchases and sales that your places of worship were desecrated. So I set fire to the city and burned it to the ground. Everyone who now looks at you sees that you have turned to ashes. You are finished forever, and all the nations that knew you are terrified that the same thing will happen to them.”
