HAVE YOU PASSED TRIALS?

HOW DO WE DEVELOP TRUST IN GOD?

David Wilkerson (1931-2011)

To enter God's rest, we must renounce our own efforts. Only faith can lead us to this perfect rest: “For we who believe have entered into that rest” (Hebrews 4:3). In short, we must believe in our hearts that God is faithful to deliver us in every circumstance, no matter how impossible it seems.

“For everyone who enters into God's rest also rests from his works, as God did from his” (Hebrews 4:10). When we rest in Christ, we no longer try to face difficult times alone. We don't inflate a false acceptance of our crisis and we don't worry about giving in to fear and starting to question God's love. In short, our “works mentality” ceases and we simply trust in the Lord.

How to develop such trust? We seek the Lord in prayer, we meditate on His Word, and we walk in obedience. You might argue, “but these are all works.” I disagree. All of them are acts of faith. As we observe these disciplines, we trust that the Holy Spirit is working in us, building up a reservoir of strength for the time of need. We may not feel the strength of God growing within us, or we may not feel His power building up. However, when our next tribulation comes, these heavenly resources will be manifested in us. In fact, this is the main reason I seek the Lord diligently—fasting, praying, studying, keeping His commandments through the power of the Holy Spirit.

As long as you are serving the Lord, the devil will never leave you alone. He will face intense battles, surprise attacks, and despite all the victories of the past, he will always depend on celestial resources to withstand.

Determine to be a soldier who is fully prepared for the battlefield. When the enemy suddenly rises against you, you will need all the ammunition available. You will want to have reserves you can count on; will have won the battle in prayer before God, before the conflict.

Trusting in God is the best attitude a human being can have. This is because this trust gives us security, joy and strength to face any challenge that is ahead of us.

Trust in God must not be conditioned on circumstances, nor on momentary experiences or emotions. But it must be based on the Word of God and established through faith in Jesus Christ.

God is good and faithful, and he never forsakes or abandons those who trust in him! Trust in the Lord! Strengthen your trust in God through the Bible!

Such is the confidence we have before God through Christ. Not that we can claim anything on our own merits, but our ability comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6

Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.
