The Crucifixion
(Mt 27: 33-44 Mark 15: 22-32 John 19: 17-27)33 And when they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, and the evildoers, one on the right and one on the left.
34 And Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. And they divided their garments, and cast lots.
35 And the people were watching. And the princes also mocked him, saying, He saved others, save himself, if he be the Christ, the chosen of God.
36 And the soldiers also mocked him, and came to him, and offered him vinegar.
37 And saying, If thou art the King of the Jews, save thyself.
38 And over him was a title, written in Greek, Roman, and Hebrew letters: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 And one of the evildoers that were hanged blasphemed him, saying, If thou be the Christ, save thyself, and us.
40 But the other answered and rebuked him, saying, Thou dost not yet fear God, being in the same condemnation?
41 And we, in truth, justly, because we have received what our deeds deserved; but this none evil did.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me, when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise.
MATTHEW 7: 13-23
13 Enter the narrow gate; because the gate is wide, and the way that leadeth to destruction is broad, and many are they that go in through it;
14 And because the gate is narrow and the way that leads to life is narrow, there are few that find it.
15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you dressed like sheep, but inwardly they are devouring wolves.
16 By their fruits you shall know them. Do they gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 So every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and every evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 The good tree can not bear bad fruit; nor the evil tree bear good fruit.
19 And every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord! He will enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
22 Many shall say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And, in your name, we do not expel demons? and in thy name have we not done many wonders?
23 And I will openly tell them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
In the past false prophets have appeared in the midst of the people, just as false teachers will arise among you. These will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Sovereign who rescued them, bringing upon themselves sudden destruction. 2 Peter 2: 1
Who is the liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist: he who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22
