EZEQUIEL 36
22 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus saith YHWH (YAUH): Not for your sakes do I this, O house of Israel, but for my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have been.23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the Gentiles, which ye have profaned among them; and the Gentiles shall know that I am YHWH, saith the LORD, when I shall be sanctified in their sight.
24 And I will take you from among the Gentiles, and will gather you from all lands, and will bring you into your land.
25 And I will sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.
26 And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take away the heart of stone out of your flesh, and give you a heart of flesh.
ISAIAH 52: 6 Therefore my people shall know my name; for he shall know in that day, that it is I myself that speak: Behold me.
EZEKIEL 38: 7 And I will make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel, and I will never again profane my holy name; and the Gentiles shall know that I am YHWH (YAUH), the Holy One in Israel.
8 Behold, it is come, and it shall be fulfilled, saith YHWH (YAUH); This is the day that I have spoken.
APOCALYPSE 17
The fall of Babylon. The vision of the great harlot seated upon the beast
3 And he carried me away in the spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, which was full of names of blasphemy, and had seven heads and ten horns.
SINCE THE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHY, IN was- PRESENTED THE HOLY BIBLE CONTAINING THE NAME OF GOD (Creator), JESUS (HIS SON) AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. HOWEVER, IN THE LAST TIMES, WITH THE DIFFUSION AND EXPANSION OF THE INTERNET AND MANY RESEARCHES AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF OTHER BROTHERS, WE DISCOVERED THAT THEY PROPOSEDLY BROKEN THE BIBLICAL NAMES OF THE PROPHETS AND MAINLY, THE CREATOR AND HIS SON SO THAT WE DID NOT KNOW THE TRUE AND, WE ARE SAVED.
THROUGH THE VULGATA AND THE SEPTUAGINTA, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ALTERED THE BIBLICAL NAMES AND INCLUDED THE LETTER J.
THE JOTA LETTER (J)
The letter JOTA (J) does not even exist in the Hebrew Alphabet,
neither in the Greek Alphabet nor in the Latin Alphabet. The letter
JOTA (J) only appeared after the year 1500.
Note: The letters J, j and v are called RAMISTS because they were created
by Petrus Ramus (Pierre de la Ramée, 1512-1572), at one time
in which, of course, Latin no longer had natural speakers.
Biblical names beginning with the letter "Y" (YOD)
corrupted because the translators changed the
"Y" (YOD) by the letter JOTA (J). With this, the
translators changed the phonetics and transliteration of
biblical names (Revelation 22: 18-19).
* Corrupted names refers only to biblical names that begin with the letter JOTA (J).
It is good to remember that 42,000 people died because
pronounced a wrong name (Judges / Shofetim 12: 6).
Primitive Church NEVER used a name
with the Letter JOTA (J).
The prophets and the apostles have never heard
talk about the JOTA LETTER (J).
JEHOVAH IS NOT THE NAME OF THE CREATOR
FOR THE CAUSE OF THE LETTER JOTA (J)
NO HEBREW DOES NOT EXIST DITONGO
"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"

Vulgate is the short form of Latin Vulgate editio or versio vulgata lectio or Vulgate, respectively "edit, translate or read popular disclosure" - the most widespread version (or more accepted as authentic) of a text. In the ordinary sense, is the Vulgate Latin translation of the Bible, written between the late fourth century early fifth century by St. Jerome, at the request of Pope Damasus I, which was used by the Christian Church and is still very respected.
In its first centuries, the Church was mainly used the Greek language. It was in this language that the entire New Testament was written, including Paul's Letter to the Romans, as well as many Christian writings from succeeding centuries.
In the fourth century, the situation had already changed, and it is then that the important biblical scholar St. Jerome translates at least the Old Testament into Latin and reviews Vetus Latina.
The Vulgate was produced to be more accurate and easier to understand than its predecessors. It was the first, and for centuries, the only version of the Bible that shed the Old Testament directly from Hebrew and not from the Greek translation known as the Septuagint. In the New Testament, St. Jerome selected and revised texts. It is therefore called Vulgate to this Latin version of the Bible that was used by the Roman Catholic Church for many centuries, and is still today the source of many translations.
The name comes from the vulgate verse, that is "a popular version," and was written in everyday Latin, used in conscious distinction to Cicero's elegant Latin, which Jerome considered his master.
The name Vulgate was consolidated in the first half of the sixteenth century, especially from the edition of the Bible of 1532, and was definitively consecrated by the Council of Trent in 1546. The Council established a single text for the Vulgate from several existing manuscripts , which was ratified once again as the official Bible of the Church, thus confirming the other councils since the second century, and this version became known as the Clementine Vulgate.
After the Second Vatican Council, by the determination of Paul VI, a revision of the Vulgate was made, especially for liturgical use. This revision, completed in 1975 and promulgated by Pope John Paul II on April 25, 1979, is called the New Vulgate and was established as the new official Bible of the Catholic Church.

Septuagint is the name of the Hebrew version of the Hebrew Bible translated into steps for Koine Greek, between the 3rd century BC and the 1st century BC in Alexandria. Among many others, it is the oldest translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek, the lingua franca of the eastern Mediterranean by the time of Alexander the Great.
The translation became known as the Septuagint (Septuagint, Latin word for seventy, or LXX), for seventy-two rabbis (six out of each of the twelve tribes) worked on it and, according to tradition, completed the translation in seventy-two days. The Septuagint, since the first century, is the classical version of the Hebrew Bible for Greek-speaking Christians [1] and was used as the basis for several translations of the Bible.
The Septuagint includes some books not found in the Hebrew Bible. Many Bibles of the Protestant Reformation follow the Jewish canon and exclude these additional books. However, Roman Catholics include some of these books in their canon and the Orthodox Churches use all books according to the Septuagint. Anglicans, like the Eastern Church, use all books except Psalm 151, and the bible of King James in its authoritative version includes these additional books in a separate part called Apocrypha.
The Septuagint was held in high esteem in ancient times. Philo of Alexandria considered it divinely inspired. In addition to the ancient Latin translations, the Septuagint was also the basis for the Church Slavic versions, for the Héxapla of Origen (part) and for the Armenian, Georgian and Coptic versions of the Old Testament. Of great significance to many Christians and scholars of the Bible, it is quoted in the New Testament and by the Fathers of the Church. Although Jews have not used the Septuagint since the second century, recent scholarly studies have brought a new interest in the subject in Jewish studies. Some of the Dead Sea scrolls suggest that the Hebrew text may have had sources other than just those that formed the Masoretic text. In several cases, these new texts found are in agreement with the LXX. The earliest codices of the LXX (Vaticanus and Sinaiticus) date back to the fourth century.
WHY CAN YOU BELIEVE IN THE TRUTH (ESSENCE) OF THE SACRED BIBLE?
All Scripture is inspired by the Eternal (YHWH), useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness, so that the man of YHWH (YHWH) may be fit and fully prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16-17
First of all, know that no prophecy of Scripture comes from personal interpretation, for the prophecy never originated in the human will, but men spoke from YHWH, impelled by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1: 20-21
But we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit proceeding from YHWH (YAUH), that we may understand the things which YHWH (YHWH) has freely given to us. From them we also speak, not with words taught by human wisdom, but with words taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths for those who are spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2: 12-13
For the word of YHWH (Yahu) is living and effective, and sharper than any two-edged sword; it penetrates to the point of dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and judges the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
YHWH (YHWH) spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets, but in these last days he spoke to us through the Son (YAUSHA), to whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom made the universe. Hebrews 1: 1-2
It was in regard to this salvation that the prophets who spoke of the grace intended for you investigated and examined, seeking to know the time and circumstances for which the Spirit of Christ which was in them stood, when he foretold to you the sufferings of Christ and the glories which would follow those sufferings. It was revealed to them that they were ministering, not to themselves, but to you, when they spoke of the things which are now preached unto you by them that preached the gospel by the Holy Ghost sent forth from heaven; things that angels long to watch.
1 Peter 1: 10-12
Revelation of YAUSHA, which YHWH (Yahweh) gave him to show his servants what will soon happen. He sent his angel to make known to his servant John, who testifies to all that he saw, that is, the word of YHWH (YAUH) and the testimony of YAUSHA. Happy is he who reads the words of this prophecy and happy those who hear and keep what is written in it, because the time is near. Revelation 1: 1-3
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE ETERNAL CREATOR (YHWH) AND HIS SON?
BASED ON THE TEXT BELOW, IT IS PROOF THAT THEY WOULD TRY TO HIDE THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND THE SON?
Proverbs 30: 4
4 Who ascended into heaven and came down? Who shut the winds in his fists? Who tied the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is your name? And what is the name of your son, if you know it?
WHY HIDDEN?
Acts 4: 10-12
10 Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of YAUSHA the Nazarene, the one whom you crucified and whom YHWH (YAHU) rose from the dead, in the name of this is that he is before of you.
11 He is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, and it was made the head of a corner.
12 And in none other is there salvation: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Philippians 2: 9-11
9 Therefore, YHWH (Yahweh) also exalted him sovereignly, and gave him a name which is above every name;
10 That at the name of YAUSHA the whole knee may bow, of all that are in the heavens, and in the earth, and under the earth,
11 And all the tongue confess that YAUSHA is the SAVIOR, to the glory of YHWH (YAUH) Father.
Hebrews 1: 1-4
Christ, as the Son of YHWH (YAUH), is superior to angels
1 HAVING God in times past, and in many ways, to the fathers, by the prophets, hath spoken unto us in these last days by the Son,
2 Whom he hath made heir of all things, by whom also he made the world.
3 Who, being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, having made for himself the cleansing of our sins, sat down at the right hand of majesty on high ;
4 Made so much more excellent than the angels, how much he inherited a more excellent name than they.
JOHN 16
23 And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask of my Father in my name, he shall give it unto you.
24 Hitherto hast thou asked nothing in my name; ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be fulfilled.
ACTS 2
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and glorious day of the ETERNAL;
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call upon the name of the ETERNAL, shall be saved.
Revelation 3:12 To him who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my YHWH (Yahweh), and he will never leave it; and I will write upon it the name of my YHWH (YAUH), and the name of the city of my YHWH (YAUH), the new Jerusalem that descends from heaven, of my YHWH (YAUH), and also my new name.
THEREFORE, THE NAME OF THE SON MUST CONTAIN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND THE CITY OF THE FATHER ...
FATHER: YHWH (YAUH)
SON: YAUSHA
CITY OF THE FATHER: YAUSHALAIM (KNOWN BY US LIKE JERUSALEM)
Jeremiah 15:16 When thy words were found, I ate them quickly, and thy word was to me the joy and gladness of my heart; for by thy name I am called, O YHWH (YAUH) of hosts.
Numbers 6:27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
Jeremiah 11: 18,19
18 And the YHWH (Yahweh) made me know, and I knew it; then you made me see your actions.
19 And I was like a lamb, like an ox that lead to slaughter; for I did not know that they had purposed against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and cut it off from the land of the living, and let no more memory of its name.
Revelation 14:01
The Lamb and his redeemed in Mount Zion
1 And I looked, and behold, the Lamb stood upon Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand, which in his foreheads had written the name of his Father.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no man can lay any foundation other than that which is laid, which is YAUSHA.
Moshe [Moses] said to Elohim, 'When I appear before the people of Isra'el and say to them,' The Elohim of his ancestors sent me to you '; and they ask me, 'What is his name?', what shall I tell you? ' Elohim said to Moshe [Moses]: 'Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh' I am / I will be / I will be 'sent me to you'. Moreover, Elohim said to Moses: 'Say this to the people of Yisra'el: יהוה [YHWH], the Elohim of their fathers, the Elohim of Avraham [Abraham], the Elohim of Yitzchak [Isaac] and the Elohim of Ya'akov [Jacob] sent me to you. ' This is my name for ever; I desire to be remembered in this way, generation after generation. "(Shemot / Exodus 3: 11-15).
Now, before the ETERNAL revealed his name to Moshe (Moses), he knew it as Elohim, a word literally meaning "powers" and which is a title used by the ETERNAL, not a proper name. Moshe (Moses) wanted to know the proper name by which the ETERNAL calls himself and this one answered him: יהוה. It is the tetragram (four letters) that reveals the name of Elohim, composed of the Hebrew letters yud, heh, waw, heh, all consonants, since there are no vowels in the Hebrew alphabet. These letters in Portuguese [1] are thus transliterated: YHWH. Hereafter, whenever referring to the tetragram, the letters YHWH will be used.
After the ETERNAL declare that he is called YHWH, he said:
"This is my name for ever; I desire to be remembered in this way, generation after generation. "(Shemot / Exodus 3:15).
NO ONE CAN CHANGE THE NAME OF THE ETERNAL
So that you may know that you, to whom only the name of YHWH belongs, are the Most High over all the earth "(Tehillim / Psalm 83: 16-18).
"His name shall stand for ever; his name will spread from father to son as long as the sun lasts, and men will be blessed in him; all nations will call it blessed. "(Tehillim / Psalms 72:17).
1. The prophet Mal'achi wrote (Malachi) that those who fear and remember the name of YHWH will be heard:
"Then those who feared YHWH often spoke to each other; and YHWH hearkened and hearkened; and a memorial was written before him for them that feared YHWH, and for them that remembered his name. "(Malachi / Malachi 3:16).
2. The name of YHWH should be loved:
"And to the sons of strangers, that they should join themselves to YHWH to serve him, and to love the name of YHWH, and to be his servants, all that keep the Sabbath [Sabbath], not profaning it, and those that embrace mine covenant. "(Yeshayahu / Isaiah 56: 6).
3. We should remember the name of YHWH for all generations and peoples:
"I will remember your name from generation to generation; therefore the peoples shall praise thee for ever. "(Tehillim / Psalm 45:17).
4. King David praised the name of YHWH:
"Psalm of David for the chief musician, about the death of Labben:
I will praise you, YHWH, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works "(Tehillim / Psalms 9: 1-2).
5. The name of YHWH should be given glory and worshiped:
"Give YHWH the glory due to his name, worship YHWH in the beauty of holiness." (Tehillim / Psalm 29: 2).
6. Salvation is called by the name of YHWH. Therefore whoever calls on the name of YHWH will be saved:
"Save us, O YHWH, our Elohim, and gather us from among the Gentiles, that we may praise thy holy name, and may we rejoice in thy praise" (Tehillim / Psalm 106: 47).
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of YHWH shall be saved" (Yo'el / Joel 2:32).
7. David wrote a psalm in which he states that salvation comes by the name (character) of YHWH:
"Save me, O Elohim, by thy name, and do me justice for thy power" (Tehillim / Psalm 54: 1).
8. David declared that the name of YHWH would be magnified for ever:
"And let thy name be exalted for ever, that it may be said, YHWH of hosts is Elohim over Isra'el; and the house of thy servant shall be established before thee. "(Sh'mu'el Beit / 2 Samuel 7:26).
"It happened that she [Ruth / Ruth] was in the part of the camp belonging to Bo'az, of the Elimelech clan, when Bo'az came from Beit-Lechem [Bethlehem]. He said to the reapers, 'YHWH be with you'; and they answered, 'YHWH bless you.' "(Ruth / Ruth 2: 3-4)
"I am a Hebrew, and I fear YHWH, the Elohim of heaven, who created the sea and the dry land." (Yonah / Jonah 1: 9).
9. See, Yonah (Jonah) revealed the name of YHWH to heathen !!! That is, Yonah did not understand that the name of YHWH should be hidden, on the contrary, he thought it would be good to reveal the name of the Creator of the heavens and the earth. From then on something very interesting happens, Yona asks that those men throw him in the sea and soon after, the heathen gentiles begin to call the name of YHWH:
"At last they cried to YHWH, 'Please YHWH, please! Do not allow us to perish for causing this man's death and do not blame us for the shedding of innocent blood, for you, YHWH, have done what you thought righteous. "(Yonah / Jonah 1:14).
10. It seems that the Gentiles ended up converting to the ETERNAL, for they threw Yonah into the sea and the fury of the storm ceased, when:
"Having taken a great fear of YHWH, they offered a sacrifice to YHWH and made vows" (Yonah / Jonah 1:16).
The story quoted teaches us a great lesson: if even the heathen could claim the name of YHWH, why do we servants of Yeshua HaMashiach, we can not invoke the proper name of our Heavenly Father?
11. If the biblical texts already quoted in which YHWH himself ordered his name to be taught, remembered, and invoked from generation to generation were not enough, it is worth recording others:
"Proclaim with me the greatness of YHWH;
let us exalt together his name together. "(Tehillim / Psalm 34: 4, Christian versions: Ps 34: 3).
"I will thank YHWH for his righteousness; I will sing praises to the name of YHWH the Most High. "(Tehillim / Psalms 7:18, Christian versions: Ps 7:17).
"YHWH, our YHWH, how majestic is your name in all the earth! Thou, whose glory is sung in the heavens. "(Tehillim / Psalms 8: 2, Christian versions: Psalms 8: 1)
"Those who know your name trust in you, for you, YHWH, never forsake those who seek you" (Tehillim / Psalms 9:11, Christian versions: Ps. 9:10).
"This is my name for ever; I desire to be remembered in this way, generation after generation. "(Shemot / Exodus 3:15).
"Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH thy Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless to take his name in vain. "(Shemot / Exodus 20: 7).
"The name of YHWH, your Elohim, shall not be taken away for a lie [or for a voidness], for YHWH will not make clear who takes away his name for a lie [or for nullity]." Shemot / Exodus 20: 7).
YHWH: THE NAME THAT
SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN
By Tsadok Ben Derech
I - YHWH IS MY NAME
In chapter 3 of Shemot (Exodus), Moses (Moses) sees a burning bush that was not consumed by fire. Then, under the mount and have a supernatural experience with the ETERNAL, establishing a dialogue between both. In this meeting, Elohim reveals His Name to Moses (Moses):
"Moses told Elohim, 'Who am I to go to Pharaoh and take the people of Isra'el out of Egypt?' He replied, 'Make sure I am with you. The sign that I sent him is this: when you have led the people out of Egypt, you will worship Elohim on this mountain. '
It is useful to report that in Western culture the name only designates one person (eg Carlos, Priscila etc). However, in Semite culture, the name ("shem" / שם) not only individualizes a being, but also - and especially - refers to the character of the person, to the specific qualities that he possesses. In the Hebrew, each name has a meaning (eg Yeshayahu / Isaiah means "the ETERNAL saves").
Then the ETERNAL revealed his sacred name, YHWH (יהוה), for it both individualizes the Creator of the heavens and the earth as well as mirrors the character of Elohim. That this important information is stored: the name expresses character.
A specialist in paleo-Hebrew, Jeff Benner explains that the tetragram comes from the verb הוה, which denotes "to exist." In the third person singular, the verb is flexed like יהוה, forming the tetragrama that simultaneously expresses the following ideas: "He exists", "He will exist", "He is".
In Greek thought, deities are conceived in the abstract plane. In Hebrew culture, a concrete experience is required with the Supreme Being (seeing, hearing, feeling). Therefore, Moshe asked the name of the ETERNAL, in order to authenticate the supernatural experience he had. In reply, Elohim reveals the tetragram, wishing to express the following message: "Tell the people of Yisra'el: He (the Elohim of their fathers) exists, He will exist, He is ...".
In declaring his own name in the narrated episode, the ETERNAL determined that it should be remembered forever as YHWH (Shemot / Exodus 3:15). Despite such an express order, people today call the ETERNAL various names, including names of pagan origin, but do not use the name prescribed in the Scriptures.
The name of YHWH is so sacred and important that it appears about seven thousand times in the Tanach (First Scriptures).
The Psalmist wrote that men should be ashamed and seek the name of YHWH, that is, the character of Elohim:
"Their faces are filled with shame, that they may seek thy name, YHWH.
They are confused and dismayed for ever; be ashamed, and perish,
So that you may know that you, to whom only the name of YHWH belongs, are the Most High over all the earth "(Tehillim / Psalm 83: 16-18).
Still according to the Psalter, the name of YHWH would remain forever and should be spread from generation to generation:
"His name shall stand for ever; his name will spread from father to son as long as the sun lasts, and men will be blessed in him; all nations will call it blessed. "(Tehillim / Psalms 72:17).
We should remember the name of YHWH for all generations and peoples:
"I will remember your name from generation to generation; therefore the peoples shall praise thee for ever. "(Tehillim / Psalm 45:17).
King David praised the name of YHWH:
"Psalm of David for the chief musician, about the death of Labben:
I will praise you, YHWH, with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works "(Tehillim / Psalms 9: 1-2).
The name of YHWH should be given glory and worshiped:
"Give YHWH the glory due to his name, worship YHWH in the beauty of holiness." (Tehillim / Psalm 29: 2).
David wrote a psalm in which he states that salvation comes by the name (character) of YHWH:
"Save me, O Elohim, by thy name, and do me justice for thy power" (Tehillim / Psalm 54: 1).
David declared that the name of YHWH would be magnified forever:
"And let thy name be exalted for ever, that it may be said, YHWH of hosts is Elohim over Isra'el; and the house of thy servant shall be established before thee. "(Sh'mu'el Beit / 2 Samuel 7:26).
On the basis of the biblical texts quoted, it is firmly inferred that the use of the name of YHWH was frequent among the Israelites, who used it as a proper name, such as the name of persons, without any mystical connotation or conceived as too sacred to the point of being uttered. In fact, the name YHWH was normally used in everyday situations, provided, of course, the reverence for the ETERNAL was assured.
In the book of Ruth, Bo'az greets the reapers by using the name of the ETERNAL, and is also greeted in the same way, that is, in an informal situation:
"It happened that she [Ruth / Ruth] was in the part of the camp belonging to Bo'az, of the Elimelech clan, when Bo'az came from Beit-Lechem [Bethlehem]. He said to the reapers, 'YHWH be with you'; and they answered, 'YHWH bless you.' "(Ruth / Ruth 2: 3-4).
Rabbinical Judaism today teaches incorrectly that the name of YHWH can not be pronounced in any hypothesis, for this would be a tremendous disrespect to the ETERNAL. Ledo mistake! In the light of the Scripture cited, Bo'az and the reapers used the name of YHWH with respect, however, in informal situations of daily life.
It is common knowledge that the prophet Yonah (Jonah) received an order from the ETERNAL to preach the message of repentance to the impious people of Nineveh, but he fled from his mission and took a boat to Tarshish (Tarshish). There was a terrible storm that threatened to wreck the ship, and then the crew cast lots to know who was to blame, for they thought it would be a punishment from the gods. The fate fell upon Yonah (Jonah), and he spoke openly to the heathen Gentiles:
"I am a Hebrew, and I fear YHWH, the Elohim of heaven, who created the sea and the dry land." (Yonah / Jonah 1: 9).
See, Yonah (Jonah) revealed the name of YHWH to pagans !!!
If the biblical texts already quoted in which YHWH himself ordered his name to be taught, remembered, and invoked from generation to generation were not enough, it is worth recording others:
"Proclaim with me the greatness of YHWH;
let us exalt together his name together.
It will be exposed, then, as the false idea that the name of YHWH can not be pronounced.
II - ORIGIN OF MYTH
When the Jews were taken into Babylonian captivity (586 BC), they were constantly insulted by the pagans, and they blasphemed the name of YHWH. To safeguard the name of the ETERNAL before the Gentiles, the masters began to teach that the Jews could not pronounce it, for it would be unspeakable and sacred. In this way, the pagans would not know the name of the ETERNAL and, consequently, would not insult him.
As time passed, since the name of YHWH was not transmitted from father to son, it began to lose its pronunciation.
At the time of the writing of the Septuagint (285 BC to 246 BC), which is the translation of the Tanach (First Scriptures) into Greek, the word of the ETERNAL being disclosed to the Jews in the Diaspora and to the Gentiles, the seventy-two sages who translated it wrote the whole text in the Greek language, but made a point of keeping the name of YHWH written in Hebrew. To many scholars, this indicates that the wise translators were zealous for the name of the ETERNAL.
Unfortunately, later Septuagint copyists did not preserve the name of YHWH in Hebrew, replacing it with the Greek word "kurios" ("Lord"). This is the reason why English Bibles use the name "LORD" and the Portuguese name "LORD". Then the name of YHWH came to be replaced by euphemisms, and this practice spread before the first century.
According to the Talmud, after the death of the High Priest Sh'meon HaTsadik (310-291 or 300-270 BC), the Priest stopped using the name of YHWH in pronouncing the blessings. Thus the sacred name could only be quoted within the Temple, as attested to Mishnah:
"In the Sanctuary the Name is spoken as it is written, but in the provinces a euphemism is used ..." (Sote 7: 6 and 38b).
In the first century, Josephus mentions that it was not lawful to say the name of YHWH, and this prohibition seems to have been almost universal in his day:
"Moses could not, after what he had just seen and heard, doubt more of the effect of the divine promises, prayed to God that in Egypt he would give him the same power to do those miracles with which he favored him at that moment and to add to grace of having deigned to make him hear his voice, to tell him his name, so that he might be better invoked when he offered a sacrifice. God granted him this favor, which he had never done to anyone else in this world, but I am not allowed to repeat that name. "(History of the Hebrews, CPAD, 2004, pages 95 and 96).
After the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD, Pharisaic Judaism banished the name of YHWH, prescribing a halachá in the sense that the sacred name should be "hidden" (m.Pesachim 50a) and "kept secret" (m.Kidushin 71a).
The new practice instituted by the Pharisees runs counter to the Scriptures, for the name of YHWH has always been pronounced by all, as explained in the biblical texts already quoted. Look at the incongruity: YHWH ordered his name to be remembered and disclosed, and Pharisaism decreed that the name be hidden.
To replace YHWH by the LORD, or by any other euphemism, is not correct and violates the very words of the Torah, since the ETERNAL revealed the name YHWH to Moshe (Moses) and ordered:
"This is my name for ever; I desire to be remembered in this way, generation after generation. "(Shemot / Exodus 3:15).
With the substitution of YHWH by LORD, ADONAI [2], HASHEM [3] etc., the name of YHWH is not being remembered !!!
III - THE THIRD COMMANDMENT
It will be explained, here and now, what the connection of the name of YHWH with the third commandment is. In delivering the two tablets with the asseret hadibrot (Moses' Ten Words or "Ten Commandments"), the third commandment was thus enunciated:
"Thou shalt not take the name of YHWH thy Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless to take his name in vain. "(Shemot / Exodus 20: 7).
This translation is correct, however, the text can also be translated in another way, since the words in Hebrew possess semantic plurivalencia. Here is the assertion in Hebrew:
לֹא תִשָּׂא אֶת-שֵׁם-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לַשָּׁוְא כִּי לֹא יְנַקֶּה יְהוָה אֵת
אֲשֶׁר-יִשָּׂא אֶת-שְׁמֹו לַשָּׁוְא
Let's look at the words in the text. The verb נשא (nasa) means "to take," but it also has the sense of "being taken away" (Strong 5375). On the other hand, the word שוא (shav) means either "vain," as "falsehood," "nullity," or "lie" (Strong 7723). So here is the literal translation of the third commandment:
"The name of YHWH, your Elohim, shall not be taken away for a lie [or for a voidness], for YHWH will not make clear who takes away his name for a lie [or for nullity]." Shemot / Exodus 20: 7).
Now, by the literal translation quoted, the ETERNAL established the third commandment in the sense that it would be forbidden to take the name of YHWH away in such a way as to make it a lie. In other words, it was forbidden for another false name to enter into the place of the name of YHWH. When the masters began to say in the Babylonian exile that the name of YHWH was unpronounceable, they ended up violating the third commandment.
It is unfortunate that today both Christianity and Judaism violate the third commandment, since both religions have placed false names in the place of YHWH, including by often replacing it with names of pagan origin!
The Encyclopedia Americana (1945 edition) states that the English word "GOD" (God) is the name of a Teutonic deity who was worshiped by the pagans. When they converted to Christianity, the term idolater was used to designate the Supreme Creator.
Therefore, the word "God" should not be used in English Bibles because it is the name of a pagan deity.
On the other hand, the name "GOD" originates in DYEUS, chief of the gods of the proto-Indo-European pantheon. It teaches the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language that DYEUS, the pagan deity, gave birth in Greek mythology to ZEUS. On the other hand, Zeus means in Latin "God", being this name propagated to other languages that had the Latin by base: a) God (Portuguese); b) Dios (Spanish); c) Dio (Italian); (d) Dieu (French).
According to the Houaiss Dictionary of the Portuguese Language, the word "God" means "the creator of the universe"; "Hidden forces"; "More or less personalized spirits" and "idol made by the hand of man and to which the primitive renders worship and assigns certain powers." It can be seen that the concept of "God" in the Portuguese language does not exactly correspond to the biblical concept of the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
For this reason, we have always chosen to use Semitic titles (eg, YHWH, Elohim, etc.), or the "ETERNAL", which is usually used in Jewish circles. Nevertheless, we do not share with the radicalism of some who even prohibit the word "God", stating that this one would be, in fact, "Zeus", the head of the pantheon of the Greek gods. When, for example, a disciple of Yeshua prays to "God", he is not invoking the being of Greek mythology, but the Elohim of Yisra'el. In the Portuguese language today, "God" is not necessarily synonymous with "Zeus," inferring that the word "God" may or may not assume pagan meaning, depending on the context.
As for the word "LORD," it has no pagan origin, as some mistakenly think. However, it is understood that Bibles currently sold should not replace the name of YHWH by LORD, since the ETERNO determined that it should be remembered by its proper name: YHWH. In the same way, Judaism is wrong to change the name of YHWH by euphemisms such as HASHEM [5] or ADONAI [6]. Consequently, to place other names in the place of YHWH implies transgression to the third commandment, because it ends up by "taking away" the name of the ETERNAL, replacing it with a false name. Urge to repeat the third commandment, according to the above-mentioned retranslation:
"The name of YHWH, your Elohim, shall not be taken away for a lie [or for a voidness], for YHWH will not make clear who takes away his name for a lie [or for nullity]." Shemot 20: 7).
