Many Christians do not believe in a pre-tribulation rapture and believe that God's children will go through the great tribulation. They say we are "escapists" trying to get out of here so we don't have to go through this. They say “what makes us different from all the other Christians who have been martyred for their faith throughout history?”

Well, one big difference is the fact that from the beginning, the earth and all its inhabitants have lived under the wrath (curse) of Satan. Satan has been trying to kill and destroy God's people (God's creation) from the beginning by any means possible (sickness, disease, murder, genocide, injustice and all other sins/evil). This is the world we live in.

The wrath of God, however, is something completely different. We see throughout the Bible sometimes God poured out his wrath on the land or cities and made a way of escape for his children (example: the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the exodus from Egypt). God did not design his children to suffer his wrath, but to be saved (redeemed) through Jesus (1 Thes. 5:9)

The seven-year tribulation will be the wrath of God poured out on the earth like never before. It will be so bad that man will look for death and will not find it (Revelation 9:6). It is not for His people, but for those who rejected Him.
