Adultery is a sin and therefore the one who practices this act is opposing God's will. To adulterate means to break a vow that is made during the marriage, a vow of fidelity.

Whoever commits adultery is not faithful, and is disobeying a commandment of God. When two people unite in marriage, they do this not only to men and the law, but to God, who wants marriage to be an unbreakable union between a man and a woman.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery." Exodus 20:14

But the man who commits adultery

Has no judgment;

Whoever proceeds
